A DIFFERENT INTERPRETATION OF THE CUSTER BATTLE

THANKS TO THE ART OF THOM ROSS

With the opportunity to speak at the CBHMA Annual Symposium in Hardin on 24th June 2005 also came a unique visit to the Little Big Horn Battlefield and a chance to see Custer's 7th Cavalry once more locked in combat with the Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapaho. This was all thanks to the art of Thom Ross who had painted and then assembled over 200 life size figures at Medicine Tail Ford. For those who witnessed this event they will truly remember how life like the figures became particularly as the sun began to set. All that was missing was the noise and dust that would have engulfed the combatants on Last Stand Hill.
