Related Aspects of Plains Indian Material Culture

Neil Gilbert

Including artwork by Richard Hook

This is Neil Gilbert's first published work for the English Westerners' Society and provides not only an intriguing account of the scalplock or hair fringed shirt that commands a central position in the World of Man Gallery in the Saffron Walden Museum, Essex but also places it in its regional context and provides an excellent overview of some related aspects of Plains Indian material culture. The book is enhanced by the detailed artwork of Richard Hook on the front and back cover and the centre pages. In addition to this there are numerous black and white pictures as well as two colour plates of the original shirt.
