"HORRID MURDER AND HEAVY ROBBERY"
THE LIBERTY BANK ROBBERY
By
Robert J. Wybrow
|
On the 13th February 1866 on a cold day with snow flurries 12 men entered the town of Liberty in Clay County, Missouri and proceeded to rob the bank. This was the first crime attributed to the James Gang. Robert Wybrow is an acknowledged authority on the James Gang and in this essay re-examines the evidence, both contemporary and 'later' histories' to identify the perpetrators of this robbery. |
